Many fans enjoy watching scary movies alone in the dark, while others love the heart-pounding feel of a haunted house with friends. It unites a lot of people, which is why it's a big deal that a former Five Nights at Freddy's developer is cooking up something. Just in time for ScreenRant's Halloween 2026: 31 Days of Horror rollout, we can exclusively reveal a new horror game from industry veterans that's sure to make the rounds once it's out. Based around deception and imagery from an unlikely source, it could be the next big thing on streaming once it arrives. Here at ScreenRant, we can reveal that Luke Piazza, former Five Nights at Freddy's developer and Co-Founder of XCathedra Games, is making a four-player horror game called Gun Knife Bomb. Described as a "deadly game of Rock, Paper, Scissors" for 2-4 players, Gun Knife Bomb allows players to bluff and cheat their way to victory. "Four feds enter, only one leaves," so you'll need to talk and blast your opponents if you want to come out on top. At the start of each round, players can select a gun, knife, or bomb from the title's namesake, then battle someone. Bluffing and cheating are big parts of the game, and after you die, you can come back as a disembodied voice to bluff more. "Social Chaos" is a big factor in how each game plays out, and the aesthetics draw on contemporaries as well as Cold War-era media. Here's how Piazza describes it: "I’d say our biggest inspiration for both the gameplay and visuals comes from the table-based horror party game Buckshot Roulette, particularly its gritty PSX-inspired aesthetic. We also drew heavily from the Cold War and films like WarGames to capture that tense, oppressive war-room atmosphere felt throughout the game. More than anything, we want players to look forward to the social chaos. Gun Knife Bomb is about bluffing, cheating, betraying your friends, and trying to outsmart each other, all while knowing that someone at the table might be lying to your face. Our hope is that players walk away with those hilarious, memorable moments where everyone is screaming, laughing, and blaming each other for what the heck just happened." Check out the announcement trailer below to give a feel for what the game is going for. It's not just about using weapons and bluffing, since items like headphones and speech jammers can change the social element of Gun Knife Bomb and turn the negotiations on their head. XCathedra Games, the studio behind Gun Knife Bomb, is made up of industry veterans, IGF award nominees, and former Five Nights/Fears to Fathom developers. Their ethos is crafting high-quality atmospheric horror, and Gun Knife Bomb itself was even a finalist in the 2026 BigMode Game Jam. If you're remotely interested in horror games, Gun Knife Bomb is worth checking out, and you can wishlist the game now on Steam. You can also follow the studio's updates on X.
