Firefighters battle house fire in Wellington suburb

A house fire in the Wellington suburb of Brooklyn has been contained to one property.Emergency services were called to the blaze on Laura Ave at 7:40pm on Saturday evening.Fire and Emergency shift manager Chris Dalton said the two-storey house suffered substantial damage but there were no reports of injuries.Dalton said the blaze was contained to the one property.He said crews were leaving the scene and would rotate throughout the night to extinguish and monitor hotspots.Eight fire trucks and three specialist crews were in attendance at the fire's peak.Dalton said fire inspector will be on scene on Sunday morning.
