Fired worker charged with making fake profile on TikTok of his boss and making sexual comments

A Michigan man who allegedly used a fake TikTok account to try to get revenge on his former boss is now facing felony charges.An Indiana man was blindsided when he was called by his company's HR department and told he was going to be fired over inappropriate sexual comments he allegedly made on social media. In reality, someone had impersonated him and left the comments using his name and likeness, according to Fox 59. The suspect, 32-year-old Tyler Larsen, allegedly created the account that used the victim's photo and real name, and then began posting sexual remarks on the videos of juvenile girls dancing, according to police. In May, the victim was fired. Doug Kouns, a former FBI agent and founder of Veracity IIR, told Fox 59 that it's easy for people to create an account on social media and impersonate others. Investigators discovered the account allegedly belonged to Larsen. The victim had a personal connection to Larsen. Before the incident, Larsen worked under the victim, and the victim told police he had to fire Larsen in January. Larsen has now been charged with felony identity deception. The victim was rehired by his workplace in mid-June once the deception came to light. Social media impersonation isn't just a threat for individuals, but also poses a risk to businesses and other organizations. Fake profiles on social media have become the leading cybersecurity threat facing organizations in 2026, according to the Corporate Service Company's 2026 cybersecurity outlook report. The report notes that the advancement of deepfake images and AI-powered image generators has made it substantially easier for cybercriminals to impersonate executives and employees. But anyone with access to a person's digital images online — like those posted on Instagram or Facebook — can use them to create a fake profile.
