Fire rips through ground floor of two-storey warehouse in Wembley

Ten fire engines and some 70 firefighters were called to the scene on Alperton Lane in north London at around 2.47pm after the London Fire Brigade received 13 calls. Footage on social media showed smoke billowing out of the ground floor window as firefighters worked to put out the blaze. Crews from Wembley, Acton, Northolt, Southall, Willesden, and Chiswick were mobilised to tackle the blaze. The fire destroyed half of the ground floor before being brought under control at 6.24pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation, reported the London Fire Brigade. There are also several office blocks in the vicinity. The blaze affected several lines on the TfL network, including the Metropolitan line, as firefighters battled to quash the flames.
