Fire breaks out at packing material manufacturing unit of jewellery group in Kozhikode

A major fire broke out at a packing material manufacturing unit owned by a prominent international jeweller at Munnoor near Ulliyeri in Kozhikode district on Friday.According to officials, the blaze erupted in early morning, prompting local residents to alert the authorities. Fire and Rescue Services units from Koyilandy, Narikkuni and Perambra were rushed to the spot.It took several hours of intense effort by the fire personnel to bring the flames under control. While no casualties have been reported so far, the fire caused extensive damage to machinery and stored packing materials.Preliminary investigations indicated that a short circuit in the electrical power line likely triggered the incident.
