(File Photo: ITG)A woman police sub-inspector (PSI) has alleged that she was assaulted and threatened by the daughter of a sitting BJP MLA during a dispute over darshan at a temple in Karnataka's Mandya district.Police have registered an FIR against the accused, while a counter-complaint has also been filed in the case.The incident allegedly took place at around 8.15 pm on August 12 at the Arathi Ukkada temple in Srirangapatna taluk, where special security arrangements had been made for devotees visiting the shrine on the occasion of Bhima Amavasya.According to the complaint, PSI Savitha B Police Patil of the Mandya Women's Police Station was deployed at the temple as part of the security arrangements when an argument broke out over an alleged delay in allowing darshan. The PSI alleged that Aishwarya, daughter of Tumakuru Rural BJP MLA B. Suresh Gowda and wife of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) , abused her, slapped her, assaulted her and obstructed her from discharging her official duties.She further alleged that Aishwarya threatened her during the altercation.FIR LAUNCHED, WOMAN FILES COUNTER-COMPLAINT Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Aishwarya at Kyathanahalli Police Station in Mandya under Sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from duty), 115(2), 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).However, the case has taken a further turn with the filing of a counter-complaint.Mandya Superintendent of Police confirmed that Aishwarya has also lodged a complaint, alleging that the PSI abused her during the incident. Police have not disclosed further details of the allegations made in the counter-complaint.Authorities are investigating both complaints to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the altercation at the temple.The incident has drawn attention as it involves the daughter of a sitting BJP legislator and a serving police officer, with both sides accusing each other of misconduct.
