Vendor invoices, corporate card expenses, employee claims, purchase orders, approvals, payments, and reconciliation now run through one queue, one approval model, and one posting path into the ERP or accounting system the business already uses. The announcement comes with a deliberate difference from the rest of the spend management market. Finofo does not issue cards, and it does not force adoption of a new corporate card program as a condition for better expense management. Finance teams keep the corporate cards they already hold with their bank. Finofo pulls statement data from banks and other card providers, matches receipts to card transactions, and reconciles the spend on the cards already in employees’ wallets.Get the latest headlines, breaking news and columns.By signing up you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.A welcome email is on its way. Please try againFor many finance teams, the problem is no longer only AP. It is fragmentation. Vendor invoices run through one tool, employee expenses sit in another, and purchase orders live in an ERP module nobody opens. Each system carries its own approval logic, its own coding rules, and its own path into the accounting system, so the same team reconciles the same month three different ways, and no single view answers the question that matters: what did we spend, who approved it, and is it controlled? “Finance teams do not think in software categories. They think in workflows,” said Prateek Sodhi, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Finofo. “A vendor invoice, an employee expense, a purchase order, and a payment are all the same question asked four ways: what money left the business, who said yes, and was it supposed to happen? We built Finofo so that this question has one answer in one place. Your cards stay, your bank stays, your ERP stays, and the mess between them is what goes away.” Finofo’s answer is architectural. Finofo spent its first years building an AP automation engine that ingests documents from any channel, extracts line-level data, matches against POs and receipts, codes to the GL, routes approvals, and posts clean records to the ERP. The new modules extend that same engine to the other ways money leaves a business, rather than bolting a separate expense product onto the side. For employee expenses, the work starts and ends without finance touching a keyboard. An employee sends a receipt by text, email, or app and moves on with their day. Finofo matches it to the card transaction, codes it, and checks it against policy before an approver ever sees it. Card spend and reimbursable claims sit in one queue, and the finished entry posts to the accounting system with the receipt attached. The new purchasing module puts control in place before money is committed. Teams can approve spend before a PO is issued, create POs or bring them in from the system they already use, and match the incoming invoice back to what was approved and received. It adds controls only where the business wants them. Finofo does not force a procurement process onto every purchase. This advertisement has not loaded yet. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.“Some spend needs a PO, some does not. Some teams already have a process they like, and Finofo adapts to that instead of asking them to change it,” said Charles Maranda, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Finofo. “That flexibility carries across the platform. Approval policies built for invoices, by amount, entity, vendor, or department, can extend to expenses and purchasing without being rebuilt. And the same engine keeps checking beyond the initial approval: vendor statements are compared against invoice, credit, and payment history so AP can see what is actually outstanding before anyone follows up on the wrong balance.”Together, the modules give finance one platform for money leaving the business. Approvers see invoices and expenses in the same inbox, with the document, the coding, and the context already attached, whether the item is a vendor invoice or a taxi receipt. Payments and reconciliation stay connected to the approvals that came before them, so the audit trail is assembled as the work happens rather than rebuilt after the fact. For Canadian businesses, the timing tracks a pressure finance leaders already feel. Teams are being asked to modernize without adding headcount, and AI is now a board-level priority. Few functions expose the gap more clearly than AP and expenses, where the work is still manual, document-heavy, and duplicated across disconnected systems, and the same invoice or receipt is handled three or four times before it is paid. Finofo remains the homegrown option, a Canadian company built in Calgary, now extending its AI-native approach from AP to expenses and purchasing. This is the new standard Finofo is setting. Every dollar leaving the business now moves through one system that can answer for it. The work of chasing, keying, and reconciling becomes the system’s job, and finance is left with the part that was always theirs. Finofo does the verification. Finance keeps the judgment.
