Sign in to your ScreenRant account The Final Fantasy series has a lot of hype associated with it right now, chiefly thanks to the upcoming release of two very different games. Up to bat first is Final Fantasy Resonance, a single-player HD-2D turn-based RPG that launches on October 22. That's followed in relatively short order by the final part of the epic Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, Revelation, which drops on April 8, 2027. With all of that coming soon, you might want to get in the mood to play them by returning to some of the older games in the series in one form or another, even if only just to capture a little of that precious nostalgia. If Final Fantasy IX is one of your favorites, as it should be, it played a major role in one of the most exciting releases of this year so far. In case you haven't come across it yet in the swathe of other releases in the medium, Final Fantasy continues to maintain quite a popular TCG. It has been going strong in the West since 2016, and there have been over fifteen expansions to the original set over the last decade or so. Earlier this year, we got the release of the Dreamlike Oceans booster pack set, which draws many of its cards from characters and creatures featured in the aforementioned Final Fantasy IX. It doesn't stop there though, as it also has plenty of features from other solid titles in the series to date. In sharing a little about the set, Square Enix posted the following description: "This set includes 34 newly illustrated cards centered around titles such as FINAL FANTASY VII ADVENT CHILDREN, FINAL FANTASY IV, and FINAL FANTASY IX. The ever-popular Special card is Yuna [28-111H], illustrated by Tetsuya Nomura, and features the artist’s foil-stamped signature, just like previous cards, which adds extra appeal for collectors. "Similar to the previous “Journey of Discovery” set, the “Limit Break” cards in this set come in multiple elements, offering diverse options for not only LB decks but all decks, which will naturally appeal to both collectors and players. "Furthermore, this set continues to feature Legacy cards, which are full-art versions of powerful cards from previous sets. The three included cards are Galuf [7-067L], Terra [23-011L], and Bahamut (XVI) [24-110L]. Legacy cards are reprints so they can be used not only for collection purposes but also in tournaments, just like normal cards." Square Enix The set is currently available now from selected retailers, and you should be able to pick it up for something to close to RRP, which is set at $4.49 for an individual pack, or $80.00 for a booster box of 18 packs. There are certainly worse things to do than spend some time opening up packs while we wait for those new Final Fantasy games to drop.
