Joshua is considered an expert in soulslikes, horror, JRPGs and everything Final Fantasy, having written extensive coverage for massively popular online titles like Final Fantasy 14. Final Fantasy 14 is currently in a slight period of downtime between expansions, but that doesn't mean there's no excitement to be had. We just had Berlin Fan Fest, and another Fan Fest is coming down the line in Tokyo. To capitalize on that excitement, Square Enix has made a bunch of merch, a new wave coming for each Fan Fest, and it's all been typical stuff so far. We've already seen pins, plushies, clothes, and a lot more, though the merchandise that's being made available for Tokyo Fan Fest is a bit... interesting, to say the least. Not only does Tokyo get a series of perfumes for each of the game's jobs, but it also gets a plush of the villain Calyx, an otter backpack, and most disturbingly, a chocobo curry (thanks Essential Japan). Final Fantasy 14 Wants You To Eat Your Chocobos Yes, despite giving chocobos more of a role in Evercold by eventually letting us run dungeons with them, Square Enix is now sending mixed signals and giving us chocobo curries that we can eat, which I'm taking as official encouragement. This disturbing bit of merch is called the "Fat Chocobo Curry" and is currently selling for 1,080 yen, which is around $7 or £5. You can see a picture of the curry above, and it's not the most appetizing thing in the world. While the meat in the curry is most likely chicken, to really hammer home the fact that this is a chocobo curry, the sauce appears to be an almost neon yellow color. My chocobo that hasn't left its stable in 6 months is now giving me the side eye, but fortunately for him, he's not getting thrown in the cooking pot just yet. The Fat Chocobo Curry is not currently available to Final Fantasy 14 fans outside of Japan, probably due to the logistics of sending a curry halfway around the globe.
