FFmpeg 9.1 Preps For Release With APV Vulkan Encoder, NVIDIA Optical Flow FRUC

The release dance is underway for FFmpeg 9.1 as the newest feature release for this widely-used open-source multimedia library. New to FFmpeg 9.1 is a Vulkan encoder for the APV video format. The Advanced Professional Video (APV) royalty-free video codec can now be accelerated on GPUs via shaders with FFmpeg 9.1, following FFmpeg's other great Vulkan work. FFmpeg on the Vulkan side also has H.265 Vulkan encode optimizations. Another big addition for FFmpeg 9.1 is introducing the NVIDIA Optical Flow accelerated interpolation filter named vf_fruc_vulkan. FRUC is short for the Frame Rate Up-Conversion for FFmpeg. FFmpeg 9.1 also improves its AAC encoder, various filter enhancements, H.264 data partitioning support, new encoders and decoders, and more: version 9.1: - ASTC image encoding and decoding via libastcenc, with .astc and KTX 1.0 muxers and demuxers - extensively improved AAC encoder - APV Vulkan encoder - iTerm2 inline image protocol muxer - LCEVC payload merging bitstream filter - MVR demuxer - latticepal filter - DVD-Audio LPCM decoder and demuxing support - AVFoundation input device selection by unique ID and USB serial number - NVIDIA optical flow accelerated interpolation filter (vf_fruc_vulkan) - H.264 data partitioning support - DSD (dsd_msbf) encoder - Rhetorex ADPCM decoder - ADPCM IMA Citrix decoder - Panasonic RW2 decoder - xHE-AAC encoding via libfdk-xhe-aac - jpegapp bitstream filter - Infinity IMM6 video decoder - Remove the asf_o demuxer - D3D12 DirectML zero-copy inference for the ONNX Runtime DNN backend The FFmpeg 9.1 code can be fetched via the project's 9.1 release branch.
