Sign in to your TheGamer account Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is looking like a pretty climactic end to an amazingly ambitious trilogy, one that we'll probably never see on such a scale ever again. It would have been nice for fans to commemorate the series with a set of physical discs, but thanks to Square Enix's decision to have the game require a download, it's somewhat tainted the trilogy for physical collectors. This is especially disappointing because the game's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, told fans before the news broke that he'd be working to try and get a physical edition of the game greenlit. Unfortunately, it seems like Hamaguchi's efforts were in vain, and while people have been bugging the director some more to try and reverse the decision, it seems like he's not the one you should be having a go at. FF7 Revelation Director Really Pushed For A Proper Physical In a recent interview with Radio Times (thanks VGC), Hamaguchi explains that he understands all the chants online saying "no disc, no buy", but that he doesn't really have a say anymore, and that he fought hard to get a proper physical version. "In this day and age, as we’ve been talking about, there’s a lot of pressure for disc-less editions, digital editions, and I used my position to put forth an argument for the physical version as much as possible," says Hamaguchi. "And all of the negotiations, both internally and with first parties, have led us to where we are now, and of course, I completely understand there are those out there who may not really agree with that direction or approve of that direction." Hamaguchi goes on to say that he really "did his best" to make it happen, but unfortunately, the decision is out of his hands. It's a shame too, as it would have been nice to have the whole trilogy in physical form, but it sounds like Square Enix doesn't want the hassle for a game as bulky as Revelation.
