Greater Manchester Police said the driver of the custom-built Ferrari 296 lost control on the M602 near Eccles, in Salford, following heavy downpours on Sunday. Photos show the sportscar's crumpled bonnet, complete with the distinctive Ferrari badge, alongside a mass of tangled wires and cables. Greater Manchester Police Traffic (GMP Traffic) shared a photo of the wrecked high-performance car alongside a warning to other drivers on X. It wrote: 'Unfortunately there's one less Ferrari 296 in the world this morning after the driver of this one lost control in the wet on the M602 in Salford. 'No injuries luckily but please drive to the conditions for everyone's sake.'A new Ferrari 296 starts at £259,695, while custom-built models can cost between £320,000 and £330,000.Salford and the surrounding areas received heavy showers on Sunday following light rain the day before, with temperatures dipping to lows of 13C. Photos of the destroyed sports car show the crumpled bonnet and a mess of loose wires The rear of the sports car appears to have sustained little damage compared with the frontThe Daily Mail has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment.In a separate incident in Salford, two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man fell to his death from a balcony.Police were called to an address on Liverpool Street shortly after midnight on Saturday, where a man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He passed away in hospital the same evening.A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and a second man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody.Chief Inspector Lee Gridley said the investigation is 'progressing at pace'.He said: 'Firstly, our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends as they grieve the death of their loved one.'We now have two men in custody, and they are being questioned by detectives.'The investigation is progressing at pace, and we have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances that led to this tragic incident.'We understand that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community; however, we believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.'A Home Office post-mortem was due to take place on Sunday.
