A batch of faulty fans has been urgently recalled in the UK over risk of electric shock and fire. B&Q has recalled its 23cm OPP White 9” table fan FT23A that was sold between March and July this year. An update from the Office for Product Safety and Standards said: “The product presents a risk of electric shock and fire as there is a fault within the oscillation mechanism that can damage internal wiring.” It also warned that it does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. A full update from the retailer read: “A potential safety issue has been identified in relation to the below product. In some cases an electrical component may overheat leading to a fire or electric shock risk. “If you have purchased one of these models during the time period above, please stop using it immediately and return to your nearest B&Q store.” If you are worried or have any other enquiries you can contact your local B&Q or call 0300 303 4482.
