She says: “I am in no doubt that had the knife not broken, he would have stabbed me to death. He definitely could have murdered his own grandson. “He silenced us for years, but now the world knows exactly what he is – and we’re not afraid anymore.’’ Sasha met Tim when they were teenagers, and she liked his family – but admits there was always an atmosphere when his dad was around. Most read in Fabulous She says: “I’d hear him shouting about something or another. But once I had a baby when I was 17, we moved out and only saw him every few months.’’ In their late twenties, Sasha and Tim set up their own business, which did well. Sasha says: “Over a rare lunch with Tim’s parents, we told them all about it, but instead of congratulating us, we were met with a stony silence. Bryan seemed annoyed, not pleased.’’ Then, when Sasha was pregnant with her third child, Tim’s mum, Val, dropped a bombshell – she was leaving Bryan. Sasha, who lives in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, says: “She says she couldn’t stay with him anymore and we offered for her to come and stay with us. I just wanted her to feel welcome.’’ In February 2025, just two weeks after the split, Val filed for divorce. Sasha says: “I was pleased she was trying to get on with her life. And it was handy having her around to look after the kids. One Sunday, I needed to pop to the office and Tim was heading to the gym. He took our car and I used Val’s. “In the office, I got on with the admin while our employee put up shelves. “Then, out of nowhere, the door flew open and the shelves clattered to the ground. Standing in the doorway was Bryan, holding a bin bag. “He asked where Val was and when I said she was at mine, he said he had some of her things.’’ Suddenly, Bryan started to attack Sasha’s employee and wrestled him out of the door. Sasha says: “With just a desk between us, Bryan approached me. I was 20 weeks pregnant and trapped. He shouted, ‘You can’t keep out of my f***ing business’. I instinctively raised my left arm to protect my face and Bryan’s fist slammed into my arm. He flew round the desk and threw me to the ground. “Blood was everywhere, but I didn’t know where it had come from. As he rained punches and kicks down on me, my only thought was for my baby. “I reached for the only thing I could – a small white metal bin – and clutched it to my bump. Bryan stamped on my head and grabbed things from the floor and hurled them at me.’’ Bryan shockingly grabbed an extension cord and slammed it into Sasha’s head repeatedly, before chucking a heater and a stapler at her. Bryan Field was arrested an hour after the savage attack Credit: Facebook/Hertfordshire Constabulary She says: “Quickly as it’d started, it was over. He calmly walked out, like nothing had happened. Filled with adrenaline, I couldn’t feel any pain, all I could think of was my children. “Calling Val, I frantically said, ‘Bryan’s attacked me. He might come for you next’. I then called 999.’’ Within minutes, police and an ambulance had arrived and paramedics revealed that Sasha had a stab wound. She says: “It’d all happened so fast that I hadn’t even seen the blade. He’d stabbed my employee in the thigh, narrowly missing an artery, before trying to stab him in the neck. “He’d then turned the kitchen knife on me, piercing straight through my arm and hitting my left nipple. I was sure he’d been going for my heart. But he’d stabbed me with such force that the knife snapped in two. “I think this saved our lives.’’ Police believed that Bryan had been looking to attack Val that day, and the fact her car was outside the office had led him to believe that she was in there. Bryan Field was arrested an hour after the attack, and Sasha needed emergency surgery to repair the damage to her arm, which was in a cast for six weeks. That summer, Sasha gave birth to a beautiful and healthy little boy. She says: “I couldn’t fathom that his grandfather could have killed him.’’ In July 2025, Field appeared at Peterborough Crown Court, charged with possession of an offensive weapon, grievous bodily harm and attempted murder. He claimed self-defence. Sasha says: “The jury saw through his lies and he was convicted on all counts. Val and I were in court to see Bryan sentenced. He glanced at us briefly, but refused to make eye contact.’’ Bryan Field, 64, was sentenced to 26 years imprisonment. He was also handed indefinite restraining orders. Sasha says: “Bryan showed no emotion as the sentence was read out. We were finally rid of him.’’ She added: “Now, without the shadow of Bryan looming over us, life has never been better. Recently, Tim and I flew off to Vegas and got married. “We’re really close with Val and we’re not living in fear anymore. “Now he’s behind bars, there’s no more putting up with bad behaviour or trying to keep the peace. The whole world can know what a monster he is.’’ Val and Tim’s names have been changed
