First released back in 2004, the Far Cry franchise by Ubisoft has been a constant companion of gamers over the past two decades. Now consisting of six mainline entries and plenty of spin-offs, the anthology FPS franchise, like many game series, has its strengths and weaknesses, with Far Cry New Dawn or Far Cry Vengeance receiving the most negative reviews upon launch. However, when it comes to a favorite, many fans would give you one answer: Far Cry 3 and now, the 2012 title is set to make a major return, bringing it back into the limelight almost 15-years on from launch. Taking place in an open-world tropical archipelago, Far Cry 3 follows the story of Jason Brody, a normal man who heads for a vacation in the area. However, he soon finds himself in charge of saving his friends after the group gets kidnapped by pirates. However, the reason why Far Cry 3 is remembered so fondly is perhaps thanks to the casting of actor Michael Mando, who stepped into the role of the game's main antagonist, Vaas Montenegro. With many still considering Vaas to be one of the most iconic villains in gaming history, it is no wonder Far Cry 3 in general was met with critical acclaim. Now, both Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the game's standalone expansion, are back, and this time, they will be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 some time in Spring 2027. Whilst Blood Dragon may be a standalone expansion to Far Cry 3, it offers a completely different gaming experience as players enjoy a retro-futuristic experience inspired by classic 1980s sci-fi movies. Taking on the role of Sergeant Rex Colt, Mark IV Cyber Commando, you must head to Earth and embark on a vengeance mission against your old commanding officer in a world torn apart by nuclear war.
