GOLFERS have been making a splash in Japan – after sensationally being forced to deal with nightmare underwater bunkers. The incredible footage shows competitors having to wade through underwater bunkers and desperately whack their ball back towards the green. And the golf stars are then left absolutely soaked after being submerged in the unexpected danger zone. Fans were stunned when they noticed the extremes players were having to go to in order to keep themselves on track for a par score. One said: “As if golf wasn’t hard enough, Japan has underwater bunkers??” Another added: “That’s insane! The water wedge.” The DP World Tour’s official Instagram account even questioned: “Coolest bunkers ever?” Footage first emerged earlier this year before resurfacing on social media, leaving fans in shock. Golfers are forced to play their next shot from the water, which is above a layer of sand, if their ball comes to rest there.
