Fans, fast cars, and Freedom 250: The sponsors behind the DC Grand Prix

Fans, drivers, and sponsors are putting the pedal to the metal for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, held in the nation’s capital this weekend, Aug. 22-23.The two-day motorsports event is completely free to visitors, with 100,000 tickets granted through a lottery system. A series of sponsors and partners made the event possible. The Air National Guard, Amazon, Boeing, Chevrolet, Delta, Honda, Metro, Shell, Robinhood, Splenda, United Airlines, and Verizon are listed, to name a few. The 1.7-mile, seven-turn course will wind through the streets of Washington, D.C., circling the National Mall. Practice and qualifying races will be held Saturday, leading up to Sunday’s iconic 147-lap, roughly 250-mile race. Street closures and parking restrictions will also be in effect for D.C. drivers, and much of the National Mall will be inaccessible.Sponsors Verizon, Gulfstream, and Delta even powered a special suite experience on the track. More than 70 luxury suites will surround the street circuit. The climate-controlled suites are complete with executive restrooms, enclosed elevators, extensive views, and premium food and beverage options. One guest is permitted to accompany each service member.
