Fans evacuated as Celtic supporters’ bus goes up in flames short distance away from stadium moments after Rangers clash

FANS had to be evacuated from a supporters’ bus that went on fire near Celtic Park after today’s Old Firm derby clash. On the park Rangers took all three points with a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Ryan Naderi in the first half. After the game there were worrying scenes on the A728 (Clyde Gateway) near to the Emirates Arena as a coach went up in flames as it made its way away from Parkhead. All of the fans inside were quickly evacuated as emergency crews rushed to the incident in Glasgow’s east end. Two fire engines arrived on the scene and it brought the busy road to a standstill at around 2.30pm this afternoon. Eventually the bus was loaded onto the back of a recovery lorry, with the back of the vehicle destroyed. McLean’s Coaches told The Scottish Sun: “We are aware of the incident involving one of our vehicles on the Clyde Gateway today. “The vehicle has been recovered, and we are working with the relevant authorities and parties to establish exactly what happened. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, so it would be inappropriate to speculate while enquiries are ongoing. “Safety is our highest priority, and the vehicle will undergo a full investigation before any further steps are decided.” The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
