Fans can’t believe who England manager Thomas Tuchel is sitting next to at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea vs Brighton

TWO former Chelsea managers were sat together in the stands at Stamford Bridge against Brighton on Sunday. Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti were once two of Chelsea‘s biggest managerial heroes. The two bosses were both in attendance for Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Brighton, with supporters immediately zeroing in on their decision to leave out two of the Blues’ biggest stars. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! Tuchel controversially omitted Cole Palmer from England‘s World Cup squad, while Brazil boss Ancelotti left Joao Pedro at home. And judging by the reaction on X, fans believe both managers may be regretting those calls already. One supporter posted: “Don Carlo will be biting his tongue now for not inviting Joao Pedro.” Another wrote: “They are both regretting right now thier world cup decisions.” A third was even more brutal, saying: “These 2 amazing coaches made the biggest mistakes of their coaching careers by leaving out 2 of Chelsea’s finest from the squad to the world cup. They will be full of regrets right now.” And another fan suggested the snubs may have actually worked in the club’s favour, posting: “They all left out our players for world cup so that could be very fresh . They’re proper Chelsea legends.” Most read in Sport CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS Palmer is looking back to his best at the start of this season after missing out on Tuchel’s World Cup squad Credit: Getty There was certainly plenty of evidence for the argument on the pitch. Chelsea stormed into a 3-0 lead after 32 minutes, with Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto and Joao Pedro all finding the net. Joao Pedro has made a flying start to the season at Chelsea, scoring twice in his first two games of the new campaign. Palmer, meanwhile, scored the winner against Fulham on Monday and was on target again today against Brighton. The timing made the sight of Tuchel and Ancelotti together all the more amusing for Chelsea supporters. Ancelotti remains a Stamford Bridge legend after guiding Chelsea to the Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season in charge in 2009/10. In doing so, the Blues scored 103 league goals – a record up until 2017/18 when Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City centurions scored 106. Tuchel also has a special place in Chelsea history after leading the Blues to Champions League glory in 2021 – beating City 1-0 in the final in Porto. And there was almost another Tuchel-Ancelotti quarter-final showdown at this summer‘s World Cup. But Norway superstar Erling Haaland had other ideas, scoring twice as Brazil were beaten 2-1. Now, with the World Cup squad calls looking increasingly questionable, Chelsea fans clearly couldn’t resist having a little fun with the two managers being reunited. Comment now
