| Games News Writer Published October 20, 2026 5:40pm Updated October 20, 2026 5:40pm Less than a month away (Rockstar) If you want a reminder of how far we’ve come with GTA 6, a fan has recreated the game’s launch trailer within GTA 5. Rockstar’s marketing for GTA 6 has kicked up several notches over the past month, between soundtrack reveals and censored advertisements across the world. Surprisingly, we even got the game’s launch trailer over a month before it comes out, on November 19. It didn’t show much that was new, but it’s an effective showcase of the impressive cinematic presentation. So far, GTA 6 feels like it’s offering relatively little new gameplay-wise over GTA 5, but if you want a reminder of how big the leap is graphically, look no further than the below. YouTuber GearOS Plays has recreated the GTA 6 launch trailer using GTA 5. The two games are set in different open world sandboxes, but the footage mirrors the new game by using similar looking locales and environments. It’s pretty funny too, especially with the awkward stilted bathroom sex scene of Michael and his wife Amanda. Oh, and the ragdoll jump into a swimming pool. Want GTA 6 news? If anything, while GTA 5 is still impressive in terms of its scope, it does make you realise how advanced GTA 6 is in comparison. GTA 5 originally launched on September 17, 2013 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so it’s from two console generations ago. By coincidence, this Christmas’ other big name game, the Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake for Switch 2, has also decided to replicate the previous game’s trailer, for an official new video that mimics TV ads for the original on the Nintendo 64 (YouTube didn’t exist in 1998). The ‘Art thou ready?’ trailer is only 30 seconds long, but it’s harkening back to the old Nintendo 64 promotional material, where footage from the game is interspersed with old fashioned text on a flaming wall backdrop. Although that’s slightly incongruous now, because while the Great Deku Tree used to speak with a lot of *thous* and *thees* what’s been shown of the remake so far has him using more standard dialogue. Many might remember the old trailer was actually deeply sexist, with the tagline, ‘Willst thou get the girl? Or play like one?’ This was considered bizarrely inappropriate even at the time, but back then Nintendo UK still relied on third party company THE Games for distribution of its games and hardware, only taking over properly themselves some years later. The tagline was later changed to ‘Willst thou soar? Or willst thou suck?’ for very obvious reasons, but it’s strange that Nintendo would want to remind people of the whole ordeal, even indirectly. Let’s hope we aren’t reminded of lads’ mags and Men Behaving Badly when The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake comes out on Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
