Family favourite restaurant chain is shutting all 32 locations TOMORROW with hundreds of jobs lost

A FAMILY-FAVOURITE restaurant chain is set to close all sites by tomorrow with dozens of locations affected. This comes as part of a massive overhaul from the business behind Premier Inn. The restaurant chain will close all sites by tomorrow From September 3, all 32 Table Table-branded restaurants across the UK are set to close, including those in Suffolk, Kent and Hampshire. This follows Whitbread’s decision to retire five of its restaurant brands permanently, affecting chains including Bar + Block, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Cookhouse + Pub. On Instagram, the chain thanked guests for their support and announced: “From quick mid-week dinners to decades of family celebrations, it has been an honour to serve communities across the UK. We are so grateful for everyone who made our restaurants feel like home. “We hope you’re able to join us at least once more to create more memories before we close on the 3rd September!” Whitbread, which also owns Premier Inn, first announced plans to close its standalone branded restaurant chains back in April. The overhaul would see a total of 208 diners, pubs and eateries across the UK closed by mid-September. CEO Dominic Paul said he aimed to transform the company “into a higher-margin, higher-returning pure-play hotel business,” following challenges from “significant cost increases”. Most read in Money Under the five-year survival plan, the firm will also sell off 110 sites and convert others into 600 new hotel rooms. Around 3,800 job roles are also set to be axed as a result of the closures. A spokesperson for the company previously told The Sun: “As a business which recruits around 15,000 people every year, we expect to be able to retain a significant proportion of those affected and will be looking to redeploy as many of our impacted colleagues as possible.” Whitbread was formed in 1742 and had become the largest brewer in the world by the 1780s. However, after more than 259 years, Whitbread decided to sell all its breweries and move from beer to leisure – resulting in the brands seen today.
