Fallout 3 Prequel Officially Confirmed By Bethesda

Fallout fans really are some of the longest suffering in gaming, with very little in the way of news about what's to come for their favorite franchise over the last year or ten. The Prime Video adaptation was certainly a nice distraction for a while, but with the third season of that still a little way away, it seemed as though we were once again going to be back in the doldrums. Then, everything changed, with Bethesda laying out a raft of information to their considerable fan base that not only lays out the future of the Fallout franchise as a whole, but also most of their other major IPs. As part of that, we've even had confirmation that a Fallout 3 prequel is on the way, more than 15 years on from the game's original release. Bethesda Entertainment Over on Twitter/X, Bethesda shared a lengthy statement that confirmed the developer is more than aware of fan frustrations at the lack of news around their favorite series. To placate some of that ill feeling, they let everyone know that Fallout 3 will be getting a prequel story in the form of a major update for Fallout 76. Titled Raven Rock, they didn't really go as far as telling us what exactly that update is going to look like, or which bits of Fallout 3 it will serve as a prequel to. That said, it could me a return to the Capital Wasteland, when you'd have to assume it will be even more of an irradiated hellscape, only 25 years after the bombs dropped. That was far from all the news though, with the developer also confirming that remasters are currently in development for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. At the same time, they also revealed that Fallout 5 is absolutely in production right now, though most of the studio remains focused on The Elder Scrolls VI. There's also more coming down the pipeline for those of you who are still playing Starfield, and the collaboration with Obsidian Entertainment for an entirely different Fallout game is also going ahead as planned. While none of those games are going to be here overnight, it really is a relief to hear more about what Bethesda has actually been doing. Additional confirmation on those extra projects like the remasters is also great to hear about, so hopefully we will be able to at least play some kind of new experience in the Fallout universe before long.
