Fake hair, real bump: Anne Hathaway shuts down trolls over fake pregnancy claims

Actor Anne Hathaway has responded to online trolls who claimed she’s faking pregnancy. The actor drew attention at Sunday’s premiere of The End of Oak Street, where she showed off her baby bump in a halter top and low-rise jeans, prompting online speculation about whether her pregnancy was real.According to Entertainment Weekly, a section of TikTok users questioned her appearance on the red carpet, with one writing, “I’m sorry but that looks fake (sic),” and another adding, “That was my immediate reaction too (sic).”Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, responded on Monday with a behind-the-scenes Instagram video ahead of the Los Angeles premiere of her upcoming film.Captioning the video, she wrote, “Fake hair, real bump (sic).” Hathaway showed her team preparing her for the outdoor event and its 95-degree summer forecast. As a stylist swept her brunette hair into a voluminous ponytail, she said, “It’s not my hair.” In the next clip, Hathaway revealed her final outfit as “a custom Atelier Prabal Gurung sculptural high-low halter top with a cascading train, crafted in celestial-blue and vivid-crimson silk Mikado,” worn over La Ligne jeans. Her stylist Erin Walsh described the look as "serving supernova mama energy."Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Hathaway said maternity fashion had been "really really fun." Referring to her baby bump, she added, “It doesn’t last forever, so we’re just enjoying every moment.” The baby will join big brothers Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. Hathaway told Access Hollywood at the New York premiere of The Odyssey that she was pleasantly surprised to learn she was pregnant again at 43.“There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like 1 percent to 2 percent,” she said.“So we just decided to see where life took us, with a very, very healthy, realistic expectation, which was very low... We’re overjoyed, because we just know from personal experience that not everybody gets this,” the actor added.Hathaway was last seen in director Christopher Nolan's epic, The Odyssey, based on Homer's ancient poem.
