(Photo by Pagasa) MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected in most parts of Luzon while cloudy skies and rain showers are possible in the Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday as the southwest monsoon or “habagat” weakens, according to the state weather bureau. In the 5 a.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, weather specialist Obet Badrina said that a tropical depression in Vietnam is pulling the “habagat” away from the country. “Ngayong araw ay makikita natin na malaking bahagi ng Luzon ay makararanas ng generally fair weather o maliit na posibilidad ng malakas na pag-ulan sa araw na ito ngunit posible pa rin yung localized rain showers and thunderstorms,” Badrina said. He added that weakened “habagat” will prevail until Tuesday. He also said that there is a low chance that a tropical cyclone will be formed inside the country within the next two to three days. Visayas, Mindanao forecast “Malaking bahagi ng Kabisayaan ang makararanas ng bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na kalangitan na may pulo-pulong pag-ulan pagkidlat pagkulog kadalasan sa dakong hapon at gabi,” Badrian said. Inaasahan na bukas, yung western section ng Mindanao ay makararanas pa rin ng generally fair weather pero possible pa rin yung localized thunderstorms,” added Badrina.
