Fact Check: This does NOT show Imran Khan being taken to hospital after SC order

On August 18, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan to be moved to a hospital amid worries about his deteriorating health. Meanwhile, a video of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder in a wheelchair has gone viral. “Breaking News: First video of Ex Pak PM Imran Khan after being shifted to hospital,” claimed posts featuring the clip.A Facebook account shared the video and wrote: "Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan has been transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital."India Today Fact Check found that the video is from November 2022, when Khan was released from the hospital after he was shot. OUR PROBEReverse-searching frames from the viral video led us to the same clip on the YouTube channel of Agence France-Presse, dated November 7, 2022. This confirmed that it was not a recent video.According to the video's description, Imran Khan spent three days in hospital after being shot in a failed assassination attempt during a rally in Wazirabad. The footage was also carried by other outlets, including TRT World, on their YouTube channels. Reports from the BBC and NDTV published in November 2022 stated that Khan was leading a protest march demanding early elections, which was scheduled to culminate in the capital, Islamabad. One person was killed, and 13 others injured in the assassination attempt. Khan was subsequently shifted to a hospital in Lahore, where he claimed to have been hit by four bullets in his legs.Notably, the Pakistani government has challenged the Supreme Court order to move Khan from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.
