An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several other regions because of the threat of Russian drones. Kyiv City Military Administration chief Timur Tkachenko said air defenses were operating in the capital shortly before midnight. The renewed attack came after Russia launched about 140 strike drones at Ukraine between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, more than 100 of them jet-powered, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Most of the drones were directed toward Kyiv. Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed about 120 of the approximately 140 drones, while more than 10 jet-powered UAVs were still in Ukrainian airspace as of 7 p.m. Earlier Thursday, four people were reported injured during Russian attacks on Kyiv, two of whom were hospitalized. Damage was recorded in several districts of the capital. Kyiv had already spent much of Thursday under repeated air raid alerts as Russia carried out ballistic missile and drone attacks against the capital and surrounding region.
