Expert warns of 'hotter summers, more wildfires, more drought and more floods'

Diana Ürge-Vorsatz is professor of environmental studies at the Central European University and vice-chair of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. She says it is clear that the heatwave seen in June could not have been possible without human-induced climate change, and that the ongoing trend is for "hotter summers, more wildfires, more drought and more floods". Ürge-Vorsatz says we can still stop global warming at current levels, but that we must stop burning fossil fuels. She spoke to us in Perspective.
