The filing, which was granted by the FCC on September 15, belongs to "Amazon.com Services LLC" and lists the product simply as an "Electronic Display Device." While the filing doesn't reveal exactly what Amazon is working on, the device carries the model number H4P25L and supports Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE, and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, that's about as much as the filing reveals directly. As is usually the case with FCC filings for unannounced products, most of the more interesting details, including external and internal photos, are being kept confidential. Still, there are a few clues that give us some idea of what this mystery Amazon device could be. The clues point more toward an Echo Hub Credit: Amazon The filing includes a general RF exposure report that requires the device to remain at least 20cm away from people during operation. However, it doesn't include the body-absorption SAR testing that we typically see with devices designed to be used close to the body. That doesn't necessarily rule out a new Kindle. Amazon's compliance information for the 11th gen Kindle also recommends keeping the device at least 20cm away from the body. However, another recent Amazon filing believed to be related to upcoming Kindle hardware does include SAR testing. There are some differences in wireless performance too. The "H4P25L" device has a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi output of around 0.337W, compared to roughly 0.032W for that recent Kindle-related filing. Credit: Amazon All of this could suggest that we're looking at something primarily designed to stay in one place rather than a handheld device. One possibility is a new Echo Hub, Amazon's wall-mountable smart home control panel, although there's nothing in the filing that directly confirms this. The timing would make some sense too. Amazon only refreshed its Echo Show lineup last year, introducing the fourth-generation Echo Show 8 alongside the new Echo Show 11 in September 2025. Amazon doesn't typically refresh these devices every year either, with the previous Echo Show 8 launching back in 2023. The Echo Hub, on the other hand, was first announced in September 2023, making it considerably older than Amazon's latest Echo Show models. With the device now around three years old, there's a chance Amazon could be preparing a successor. For now, though, we'll have to wait to find out exactly what this mysterious FCC device turns out to be. Android Police has reached out to Amazon for more information, and we'll update this article if we hear back.
