Speaking yesterday, he said: “Lower fares will help people get to where they need to – giving them breathing space to help with the cost of living. “As I said on my first day in office – I will build a country for everyone, everywhere. That means more connected communities, better access to opportunities, and a lighter load on people’s lives.” He is also revealed plans to removed tax on energy bills from October. The VAT cut will see it cut on electricity bills from 5 per cent to 0 per cent and households would see £45 off their annual price cap. It comes as Brits have been battling higher fuel bills as conflict in the Middle East has disrupted wholesale energy prices. News of the reduced fare comes as under-16s will be able to travel on the bus for free from August 1 until August 31.
