Ex-world snooker champion Graeme Dott, 49, goes on trial accused of child sex offences

See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 08:49 EDT, 18 August 2026 | Updated: 09:10 EDT, 18 August 2026 Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott allegedly inappropriately touched two children, a court heard today as his historic sexual abuse trial began.The 49-year-old is accused of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour towards two primary school age children.The allegations span between 1993 and 1996 involving a girl, and 2006 to 2010 involving a boy, both in the Glasgow region.The allegation involving a girl includes claims he inappropriately touched her, instructed her to remove her clothes and exposed himself.Dott is separately accused of abusing a boy by making sexual remarks, molesting him and entering a bathroom where he watched him shower.Both charges state the alleged incidents occurred on 'various occasions'.The girl claimed the first incident occurred when she was aged nine or ten at a house. She had initially been in a room with other youngsters when Dott allegedly came in.The girl said she eventually wanted to go downstairs and claimed Dott suggested that she might want a piggy-back or 'coaksey', which she did. There was a hall window that looks out onto the street. He stopped.'She said he then started touching her inappropriately which lasted 'maybe a couple of minutes'.Prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel then put to her: 'Do you remember any reaction or saying anything?'The witness: 'I remember it was odd to me. I think he said 'does that feel nice' or something. I cannot recall.'Miss Dalziel later asked: 'In terms of what happened, is that something that occurred once or more than once?'The woman: 'More than once... maybe about seven.' His trial at the High Court in Glasgow got under way today before judge Lord Harrower.The trial is expected to last four or five days. Dott was present in court and dressed in a dark suit.Dott won the 2006 World Snooker Championship and was runner-up in 2004 and 2010.
