Ex-Royal Marine & Netflix star Nirmal Purja confirmed dead after team of 10 climbers caught in avalanche in Pakistan

AN ex-Royal Marine and Netflix star is among ten people who have been killed after being caught in a deadly avalanche. An avalanche struck the group at around midday local time as they traversed one of the most dangerous stretches on the mountain, pushing on to the summit. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! The group completely lost contact with the team back at base, sparking a frantic rescue mission. Tragically, four bodies were found on Friday and now all ten climbers are confirmed dead. They include famed mountaineer Kili Pemba Sherpa, who has summitted Everest 21 times, Omani mountaineer Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy, Nepali climber Pur Bahadur Gurung and and American climber Mallory Geis. In a chilling twist, the Netflix star had revealed in an Instagram post that he had changed the route last minute. In one of his final posts, he wrote that the last-minute change had been made in an attempt to “become the FIRST person in history to climb all 14 eight-thousanders twice” without oxygen. Elite Exped, the company who organised the mountain treks, published a statement in tribute to the lost lives.
