THE ex-husband of a Hong Kong socialite faces life in prison after allegedly murdering and brutally dismembering her body. The trial is expected to last 45 days. Police made the gruesome discovery of Abby’s partial remains on February 24, 2023, at a Hong Kong flat being rented by her former father-in-law. Body parts, including legs found in a fridge and a head found in a cooking pot were found in the following days in what cops described as a house set up as a butchery site. A court previously heard the bloodstains found within Kwong’s brother’s car belonged to the model, as well as the human skull and legs found in the Tai Po village house. The successful model had more than 80,000 followers on Instagram, regularly mingled with celebrities and had featured on the front cover of a magazine in Monaco only a week before her death. Abby had married her partner, Alex Kwong, when she was 18 in 201, 2 but they divorced several years after. Yet, it is reported that she was still financially supporting her ex-husband and his parents. Authorities believe that she had financial disputes with her ex-husband and his family over a property costing £10.7million which she had planned to sell. Superintendent Alan Chung said in February: “Police also have found that the flat was arranged by cold-blooded killers meticulously. “Tools that are used to dismember human bodies were found in the flat, including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves, and masks.” Police quickly arrested Abby’s former spouse as he allegedly attempted to flee the city on a speedboat days after her remains were found. He was snared with around £50,000 on him as well as several luxury watches worth more than £400,000, reported CNA.
