Evolocumab and Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Diabetes Without Known Significant Atherosclerosis

To the Editor In the VESALIUS-CV trial, Dr Marston and colleagues reported that evolocumab reduced first major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with diabetes taking optimized lipid-lowering therapy and without known significant atherosclerosis over 5 years of follow-up. While the results are reassuring, additional context regarding absolute benefit and economic considerations may help inform clinical and policy interpretation.
