Everything We Know About ‘The Paper’ Season 3

In this house, we support Domhnall Gleeson, whether he’s playing a Star Wars baddie, a time-traveling romantic, or a clueless boss in a mockumentary sitcom set in the world of The Office. Thankfully, his character on the latter, a Peacock original called The Paper, is nothing like Michael Scott. The show just dropped its second season on the NBC streaming platform. Can we expect more to come from Gleeson and the gang? Here’s what we know about the potential for a season 3 of The Paper.The series is a “sequel” to The Office in the most convoluted way. Sitcom logic is allowed to be a little outlandish, or a lot, if you ask me. Several years after the fictional documentary crew behind The Office finished the job, they’re back following a local newspaper in Toledo, Ohio, that happens to have been bought by the same company that (as we learned in the pilot) bought Dunder Mifflin after the series finale. The physical layout of the office is suspiciously similar to where we first met Dwight, Jim, and Pam as well. Also, Oscar is here!Has The Paper been renewed for season 3?As of the September 9, 2026 premiere of The Paper season 2, there’s no word from Peacock about whether or not the show will continue. It’s not too late! Remember, shows like this used to come out weekly, with the occasional hiatus for holidays. Networks would make their decision towards the end of the season.What would The Paper season 3 be about?Well, there’s the real question as to whether Mare will be coming back to TTT or if she is going to stay put in Cincinnati. And while she hasn’t made a decision just yet, it’s very clear that things between her and Ned are pretty dunzo. Although, Ned did make a very bold declaration at the end about his love for her, so here’s hoping she gets the hint and they get back together.There are a few other couples whose will-they-won’t-they vibes are still going strong. Detrick and Nicole are in some very rocky stages right now, but it’s very clear that they are into one another, so things can change. And then there’s Adelola and Travis. Oscar Martinez is one of the main characters on The Paper, and Phyllis’ husband Bob Vance (from Vance Refrigeration) showed up as well. More seasons mean more opportunities for character cameos. Surely someone from Scranton can come visit Oscar in Toledo...right?When would a potential season 3 of The Paper be on Peacock?If the series does get renewed, we can probably count on it arriving like clockwork next September, in 2027. The first two seasons were refreshingly consistent in that regard.
