Sign in to your TheGamer account Dungeons & Dragons has been making some major changes when it comes to future releases, taking inspiration from the massive success of Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond to bring new collaborations to the classic TTRPG. Although the first crossover will be a 256-page expansion themed after World of Warcraft coming this November, the next major expansion will feature none other than a galaxy far, far away. While we've known about the official partnership between Wizards of the Coast and Star Wars ever since the Visions Keynote at Gen Con 2026, we now have some official details on what to actually expect from the collaboration, which will be released in April, 2027. An Official Star Wars-Themed D&D Setting Is Coming Image from Wizards of the Coast As announced on the official Wizards_DnD account on X after its reveal at New York Comic Con, the official Star Wars-themed expansion coming to D&D next year will offer a pre-written campaign adventure named Star Wars Tyro Squadron: Adventures, and a D&D Star Wars Core Rules Book for you to make your own adventures with. The Tyro Squadron: Adventures module itself will be focused around a group of rebels fighting against the Empire during the events of the original trilogy, as the description advertises being able to "fly daring missions, explore new corners of the galaxy, and help shape the Rebellion's story — your way." Although the Adventure is focused on a set perspective from the series, the new Core Rules book will likely offer more freedom in making your own Star Wars-themed adventures using similar mechanics to the familiar style of D&D, although we'll have to wait until Star Wars Celebration in April for more details. Star Wars And D&D Is Already A Match Made In Heaven Image from Wizards of the Coast With plenty of options to make stories or characters fitting for Star Wars already in the familiar setting of D&D, the sci-fi world of Star Wars has already made its TTRPG potential made known several times in the past, with several official spinoffs over the years taking advantage of the concept. Fans have also already made their own version of a Star Wars-themed D&D world with Star Wars 5e, which is built on the same mechanics as Wizards of the Coast's official TTRPG. With a total of 4 books out and numerous resources available entirely for free, the fan-made project is a great way to help tie you over until the official release, and shows just how much potential both franchises have together when it comes to making intricate gameplay systems and unique role-playing opportunities.
