It's been a long time since Kingdom Hearts fans have been eating so well. I probably don't need to remind you that the last few years have been pretty empty for the beloved series, with both Square Enix and Disney staying silent about its future. That has finally changed over the past few months, with Kingdom Hearts 4 coming back into the spotlight. As great as the Nintendo Direct from a few months ago was, D23 has proven to be the real star of the show for Kingdom Hearts news. The rare appearance of the series at the event convinced everyone that big things were going to be revealed, and that actually started well before the dedicated Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts panel, which had its own slate of big news. Every Kingdom Hearts Announcement At D23 2026 The Drought Is Finally Over Coco Is Kingdom Hearts 4's First Confirmed Disney World, And We Finally Have A Release Window Before we get too deep into the announcements at the Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts event, it's worth remembering that the first major announcement for Kingdom Hearts 4 was actually made at the Entertainment Panel. A brand-new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 confirmed that Coco is getting its own world, as well as giving the game a release window of late 2027. Kingdom Hearts: The Series Is Coming Soon To Disney Plus The other major announcement of the Entertainment panel was for Kingdom Hearts: The Series, an anime that's inspired by the game but tells an original story that Tetsuya Nomura had a hand in. We don't know much about this one just yet, but it was certainly the cherry on top after actual Kingdom Hearts 4 news. And with that, let's move on to the dedicated KH panel! We'll be updating this article with every major announcement that's made at the panel as it happens, so follow along or enjoy catching up if you're not staying up past midnight like me. Mickey Mouse Just Opened The Show You read that right, the Kingdom Hearts panel has finally started after a delay with none other than the voice of Mickey Mouse welcoming us all to the show. Let's get on with it! Tetsuya Nomura Is At The Panel! If you needed any more convincing that this Deep Dive is going to be a big deal, Tetsuya Nomura just took the stage as a surprise guest. It was confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 4 is going to be talked about, but we're diving into the past first with a question about which Disney franchise needed to be in the series, even if not in the first game. The answer? The Nightmare Before Christmas, of course. Nomura also mentioned "live-action films", which is likely a reference to Pirates but I'm hoping is a hint at Star Wars.
