Final Fantasy 14's second Fan Festival is finally here, giving us plenty more details about what we can expect from the game's next major expansion, Evercold. During the first Fan Fest, we got a look at the new job rework, a teaser for the game's two new jobs, an Evangelion crossover, and a completely different way of playing that will respect player time. Today's Fan Fest will undoubtedly go into more detail about these systems, and may hold some more surprises along the way, so here's everything announced so you can keep updated, with live reporting as we go. We Got A New Extended Trailer To kick things off, we got an updated trailer for Evercold, showing off what appeared to be both of the game's new jobs. One of which has a small Miqote child using some kind of magic item, while the tank job that was teased does indeed appear to be equipped with some kind of Magitek shield weapons. We Got More Story Details To start with, Yoshi-P explained a bit of Evercold's story, revealing that the game will take place across multiple gigantic ships that have taken to the skies in order to avoid the frost below. Each massive ship has its own element, such as water and fire, while a bunch of new characters will appear, one of which will wield the game's new Main tank job. Our New Tank Job Is Officially The Bastion Next up, we got a look at the game's next tank job, which will be titled Bastion. It was explained that the game's only playstyle will be Evolved Mode, and that the role will be Main Tank, meaning it's skilled at taking damage. It will wield the weapon Skyltborg, start at level 90, and the quest to actually start the job will be located in Limsa Lominsa. As for the ranged physical job that's been promised, we'll hear more about that in Tokyo Fan Fest later this year. We Got Some Gameplay Footage Of A New Area One of the game's new areas — Naglfar, The Realmship of Water — seems to be pretty far along in development, enough so that we got some amazing looking gameplay footage of the area. It looks very fantasy and extremely Nordic, and Yoshi-P says that the team is trying out lots of new things in the design of these areas. We also got to see a crystal in the middle of the ship, which is being called the Arkcrystal. It looks like a fancy Aetheryte, but Yoshi-P explains these crystals will play a major role in the expansion's story. Naglfar is also the location of the game's first player town where we'll all be AFKing in the future, and it's called Falgarthr. We got to see a little bit of footage of that town too, along with a new music composition for the area. Not One, But Two After a nice tour of Naglfar, we then got to see a second area that will be included in the game, which is called Hringhorni, The Realmship of Fire (grow up, please). It looks far more industrial, sporting plenty of furnaces and lava, very befitting the area's name. The protective dome over the area also gives the sky a very distinctive color. Yoshi-P also explains that this is a prime example of how different ships will give us a variety of areas, despite the game's focus on frost. He also says that despite these areas being located on the top of ships, they'll be the same size — or sometimes bigger — than the fields we've seen in previous expansions.
