Everything Added In The Devoid of Liberty Update For Helldivers 2

More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. Load those rifles and get ready to instill democracy because a new update for Helldivers 2 has been released. Dubbed "Devoid of Liberty," this Illuminate-focused update introduces two new enemies, an increased level cap, NPC changes, and a Warhammer-themed Warbond for players to progress through. While this isn't Helldivers 2's biggest update, it is a cool one that introduces some terrifying foes and new weapons for players to utilize against the undemocratic factions. If you're looking to jump in, here's everything you need to know about the Devoid of Liberty update. Illuminate Invasion The big focus of the Devoid of Liberty update is the Illuminate's invasion of various planets that are around the Void. At the time of writing this, the Illuminate are trying to take Rirga Bay, which is just a massive city, so be prepared for close-quarters fighting. Throughout this campaign, you'll engage in a mix of familiar and new missions. Some of the new missions players can expect during the course of this update include killing Illuminate spies, data reconnaissance, seizing control of their gateways, and exploring Illuminate structures. This is in addition to classic Illuminate missions such as destroying their motherships, saving survivors, and defending against an invasion fleet. Additionally, while there are several bug fixes and weapon adjustments you can read in the official patch notes, this is the biggest quality-of-life addition. The level cap has been raised from 150 to 300, meaning there are additional titles for you to rock and flex on your fellow Helldivers. New Illuminate Enemies One of the biggest additions in this update is the two horrifying enemies added to the Illuminate's ranks. The first is the Wretch, an amalgamation of limbs that boasts two large, fleshy scythes it uses to carve up anyone in its way. Wretches rely on their high mobility and numbers to overwhelm opponents, as they often travel in packs and are capable of leaping several meters to close the gap. Where things get tricky is that the Wretch's weak point isn't their head, as you'll want to blow off their gangly limbs to ensure they stay down for good. If you've played Dead Space this will seem familiar, as the Wretch is very similar to the necromorphs both visually and in how they are killed. Make sure to stick with your squad, because Wretches can easily surround you and apply quite a bit of close-range pressure you'll need to manage. Inversely, the Crusher is a slow, lumbering behemoth that carries a massive club it uses to flatten any Helldiver they encounter. Unlike the Wretch, this enemy can regenerate its health if it isn't taking sustained damage. This makes it pretty tricky to kill if you don't have time to focus solely on it during a battle. Their weak point is the triangular metal helmet they wear, as it can be blown off to expose their very vulnerable head. Weapons like the Autocannon are especially great at dealing with them, since they're fairly precise and can be ammo-efficient when fighting this foe. Also consider the new Bolt Pistol sidearm found in the Warhammer 40k Warbond, as it can knock the helmet off in two shots! SEAF Changes Your NPC allies, the SEAF, have also received an overhaul of how they function and what utility they provide in combat. Instead of just roaming around the planet, SEAF will now be dropped in during combat to assist any Helldiver that is overwhelmed by enemies. Additionally, SEAF allies now use a mix of normal and support weapons, along with being able to inject players with healing stims if your health is low. They're still very much cannon fodder, but the SEAF changes make them have a bit more impact during chaotic fights. You can also give them a brief moral boost by emoting near the soldiers or hugging any of their squadmates. This update makes the SEAF a little more useful, as they can often help you hold out against enemies or provide a much-needed distraction. Castellan's Creed Warbond Finally, there's a brand new warbond that's all about the Imperium from the Warhammer 40k franchise. Boasting a total of 16 rewards across three pages, the big-ticket items are the R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle, G/40-K Melta Mine, P/40-K Bolt Pistol, and Meltagun stratagem. There is also a variety of cosmetic options, along with TG-122 Demo-Trooper and TG-8 Sharpshooter armor sets, which provide the True Grit passive. This passive increases the reload speed of support weapons by 30 percent and boosts the weapon's ergonomics to reduce drag on the gun's movements. Players can also get the Still Standing title, City Fighter's Resolve, and Camo Cloak player cards. Keep in mind all of this costs 1,500 Super Credits, which is a bit more expensive than the normal warbonds we get with updates.
