Having both received raving critical reviews ahead of release, The Blood of Dawnwalker has received plenty of comparisons to the ever-iconic Witcher series thanks to its unique blend of open-world exploration, reactive storytelling mechanics, and supernatural abilities. Going down the path of a vampire, witch, or both, The Blood of Dawnwalker already seems like a promising start to a new franchise with a story that changes directly based on your actions and decisions. If you're looking for a somewhat more linear and combat-focused experience, the engaging swordplay of Onimusha: Way of the Sword won't disappoint either, with early critic reviews saying its mechanics are the perfect balance for new players and returning fans alike in its grim fantasy version of Edo Japan filled with powerful monsters and other supernatural threats to brave. Being the latest entry in Silent Hill's series of annual releases, Silent Hill Townfall follows another unlucky protagonist being thrust into a world of nightmarish horrors as he slowly pieces together his reasoning for returning to the fog-filled town. Featuring several of the modernized gameplay elements in the more recent Silent Hill games, Silent Hill: Townfall puts you right into the action with its first-person perspective, while also reworking classical mechanics like the Silent Hill Radio into the handheld CRTV. On top of detecting enemies, you'll also be able to use it to further explore the story and characters of the haunted locale, while solving narrative-driven puzzles. Control Resonant Offers A Mindbending Paranormal Adventure Releasing further into the month on September 24, Remedy Entertainment's release of Control Resonant is taking the supernatural series to even more ambitious heights with massive open environments and reality-bending combat mechanics. Following the story of an empowered prisoner who's the only thing standing between humanity and total annihilation at the hands of an unknown entity, the action RPG already looks like one of the most promising narrative games of the month. The best part about Control Resonant is that you don't need to have played the original Control in order to understand the events of its new storyline, as its protagonist knows just as much about the cataclysmic event that is threatening humanity as you would. Insomniac/PlayStation Of course, it would be criminal to discuss all the biggest games coming out this month and not mention Insomniac's upcoming release of Marvel's Wolverine, with the project finally coming to fruition after nearly a decade-long wait. Having already shown off some promisingly brutal gameplay trailers, the superpowered mutant won't be pulling any of his punches against the roster of returning characters from the original comics when Marvel's Wolverine fully releases on September 15. Speaking of long-awaited titles, JRPG fans are also getting an exciting release thanks to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, which offers a loose sequel to the acclaimed Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Further refining the strategic gameplay the series is known for, Fortune's Weave also boasts a wide cast of incredibly unique characters, and several routes to add more replayability when the Switch 2 exclusive drops on September 17.
