He has worked as both a writer and editor for Screen Rant, Collider, and other media outlets across various departments, including features, news, reviews, and interviews. With only two months before Dexter: Resurrection returns to the small screen, there has been a slate of new characters announced alongside some outstanding actors set to bring these characters to life. Since Dexter Morgan and his Dark Passenger were introduced to the world in 2006, Michael C. Hall's emotionless serial killer has been captivating audiences. Despite the fact that the original series ended in 2013, the popularity of this character, and the passion that went into bringing him to life from actors like Hall and the creatives behind the scenes have led to a prequel series and two sequel shows, with the latest about to embark on its second season this October. After the explosive twists and turns that came out of Dexter: Resurrection season 1, where much of the narrative focused on Dexter's infiltrating a secret club of serial killers while reconnecting with his son, Harrison, it looks like Dexter is up to his old tricks as he comes face to face with some of the ghosts from his past, like Joey Quinn, while also connecting with a whole new host of killers played by big name celebrities. Actor Character Michael C. Hall Dexter Morgan Jack Alcott Harrison Desmond Harrington Joey Quinn Uma Thurman Charlie Krysten Ritter Mia LaPierre/Lady Vengeance Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine Blessing Kamara Kadia Sarif Claudette Wallace Dominic Fumusa Melvin Oliva James Remar Harry Morgan Without further ado, these are the actors joining the cast of Dexter: Resurrection season 2, along with some of the details we know about who they will be playing so far. Brian Cox First up, Brian Cox is arguably the biggest name to join the lineup in Dexter: Resurrection season 2. In the wake of his extraordinary success with Succession and an illustrious career on the big screen, Cox will be playing the role of The New York Ripper. This character is described as being a retired serial killer, having carried out a long line of murders throughout his career, and now choosing to spend his retirement tormenting the survivors of his former conquests. Considering the fact that Dexter's murders are almost always aimed at people who escape justice for their cruelty, it seems guaranteed that The New York Ripper will be a priority for Dexter to get on his table. However, while the character may be perceived as an easier target for Dexter, due to his age, and the reality that his life being extended is unlikely to cause more imminent deaths, the major struggle for Dexter is likely to stem from his own internal conflict as he attempts to be a better and more supportive father, while also honoring and respecting the death of his dear friend, Angel Bautista. The fact that Cox is playing a prominent former serial killer adds to the potential that this individual will be someone with status, like Leon Prader, making it a challenge to take him down. On top of that, since Harrison is moving towards a career in law enforcement, while also dating a rookie cop whose father is a homicide police captain, it seems as though Dexter will have his work cut out for him. Dan Stevens Emily V. Aragones/AMC Regardless, Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is not going to make things easy on Dexter, with Dan Stevens also joining the cast to play another notorious murderer known as The Five Borough Killer. Details for this character are scarce, with Paramount simply announcing that he "terrorizes the Big Apple with phone calls threatening the murder of innocent citizens." Evidently, Stevens' character will likely be a much more active antagonist, at least in terms of his present crimes, but we don't know anything about his real identity and where he fits into the narrative beyond being a killer. Regardless, Stevens is an exceptional performer who has played prominent roles in projects like Downton Abbey, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and Legion. Stevens has also played a menacing and unassuming serial killer in 2014's The Guest, along with a handful of morally grey and shady characters. Evidently, he has the range and the talent to pull off playing a character who can rival someone like Dexter Morgan, and with a lack of inhibitions like the ones holding Dexter back, he's likely to cause serious trouble before being captured or killed. Bokeem Woodbine Next up, Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will also introduce Harrison's girlfriend, Fiona Mixon's father. Fiona was seen throughout season 1, and developed an intense connection with Harrison that has now led to the pair coupling up. This also helped to inspire Harrison to pursue a career in law enforcement after seeing Fiona's passion for the work. Evidently, Fiona inherited this tenacity from her father, Captain Mixon, who leads the homicide department of his police precinct in New York City. Evidently, this closeness between the Morgans and the Mixons is almost certain to see Dexter and the Captain cross paths, which will see Dexter reconnect with that part of his past in terms of investigating crimes, but it also puts Dexter on the Captain's radar. This will certainly be precarious for Dexter, not only because of his involvement in the murder of several high-profile serial killers in the previous season and the accidental death of his old colleague in what is certain to be a high-profile case, as Leon Prader's status will make the crimes and incidents that occurred in his home a huge priority for Mixon to investigate. Bokeem Woodbine has previously appeared in projects like Fargo, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Jason's Lyric, along with tackling the role of a police officer in several shows and films including Southland, Unsolved, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. With all of that experience under his belt, and a fascinating character who will be sure to cause trouble for Dexter, it seems as though this character will be a major part of the upcoming season. Gabriel Luna Image via Max While The New York Ripper and The Five Boroughs Killer are set to be central parts of the narrative in Dexter: Resurrection season 2, Gabriel Luna has also been tagged for a notable guest role as a man named Ray Ballard. This character is also set to be a serial killer who operates under the name The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, which is already the most intriguing name for a killer in this series. Again, there isn't a lot of clarity about how and where they will fit into the narrative, but the distinction of marking this character as a guest star may indicate they could meet their fate early on, or, conversely, that they join the show in the later half and set up a mystery for future Dexter: Resurrection seasons if the series is renewed again. Luna is also an outstanding actor with a long list of credits to his name, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Matador, Wicked City, Terminator: Dark Fate, and The Last of Us. Among these impressive entries, Luna has played morally ambiguous characters, including the antihero Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Clearly, all of these additions have displayed remarkable talent in previous roles, which is likely exactly why they have been tapped to join the series and are now being announced months ahead of Dexter: Resurrection season 2 actually arriving on screen. However, to get the full story of who these characters are and how they will interact with Dexter Morgan, we will have to tune in when the season finally drops on Paramount+ in October.
