Every midlife celeb is copying Victoria Beckham's signature split - but expert warns 'you'll pull a muscle'...and it doesn't even prove that you're fit

Most of us find ourselves less mobile as we get older – yet there's a growing number of midlife celebrities eager to prove they're as flexible as ever.Myleene Klass was the latest to showcase her incredible mobility as she shared a clip on Instagram of her stretching her leg straight up in the air with ease while relaxing on a sofa over the weekend. The TV presenter and singer, 48, channelled her inner Victoria Beckham – who often strikes the same pose – while wearing an elegant black dress and high heels. But she's not the first – Amanda Holden, 55, regularly performs Posh Spice's signature move, as does 53-year-old actress Kate Beckinsale. And Nicole Scherzinger, 48, performed the splits while standing on the steps of a private jet.Elsewhere, TV presenter Jenny Powell, 58, performed a headstand in a yoga video she shared with her social media fans, while former Strictly Come Dancing judge and retired ballerina Darcey Bussell, 57, is no stranger to showing off her stretching skills. But personal trainer Mimi Cisotti, founder of Move with Mimz, warns that it 'doesn't automatically mean someone is healthier or biologically younger'. Myleene Klass shared a clip on Instagram of her stretching her leg straight up in the air with ease while relaxing on a sofa over the weekend The TV presenter and singer, 48, channelled her inner Victoria Beckham – who is famous for striking the same poseShe told the Daily Mail: 'It’s great to see women in midlife showing what their bodies can do and challenging the idea that getting older means giving up on movement. 'Maintaining flexibility can help you move more freely and feel confident in everyday life. Doing the splits is impressive, but flexibility is only one part of fitness. It doesn’t automatically mean someone is healthier or biologically younger. 'For me, that youthful feeling is about being able to keep doing the things you enjoy, with strength, energy and confidence.'My message is that you can work on feeling stronger and more comfortable in your body at any age. You don’t need to put your leg behind your head to make progress!'Mimi shared her top tips for women over 40 who want to become more flexible, insisting that starting small and staying consistent was a key step. 'Begin with a few minutes of gentle stretching a couple of times a week and gradually build up,' she said. She added: 'Ease into it. Get moving with a short walk first, then stretch gently within a comfortable range. Never force a position or push through pain.' Amanda Holden, 55, regularly performs Posh Spice's signature move ... as does actress Kate BeckinsaleShe also advised people to 'get support if you need it'. 'If you have an injury, persistent pain or a condition affecting your joints, get advice from a physio or healthcare professional before trying more demanding stretches.'Mimi encouraged those trying to become more flexible to 'focus on your own progress'. 'Easier reaching, bending or getting down onto the floor are meaningful wins. A celebrity’s splits don’t need to be your goal,' insisted the fitness expert. She also urged people to 'include strength training too', adding: 'You want strength and control alongside flexibility to help you move confidently.'Myleene did the splits as she promoted her new Freemans party range, wearing a £65 black glitzy party dress sitting on a pink sofa. She captioned the video, which saw her seated on various angles of the furniture: 'Sofa surfing.' It came after it was announced the singer would be the former member not to rejoin Hear'Say after they announced a huge anniversary tour with fellow Popstars group Liberty X. Former Strictly Come Dancing judge and retired ballerina Darcey Bussell, 57, is no stranger to showing off her stretching skills Gemma Collins, 45, does a high kick in a pumpkin patchBlaming her decision to not join the tour on a busy schedule, Myleene has been attending a string of different events including the 2026 Sky Arts Awards and Classic FM Live. The other members of Hear'Say addressed Myleene's absence from the 25-year reunion on This Morning earlier this month, calling it 'a shame'.Kym Marsh said: 'We feel so lucky to do this again... it's a shame Myleene can't come with us but it just isn't the time for her.'She's busy. But we had to take the opportunity because there's nine of us... It's a shame but we're so excited.'Myleene previously told Loose Women viewers that her bandmates 'were really sweet, and they did include me in the discussions...'She said: 'But it's not something I can commit to at the moment. I just really can't. I know that they're still figuring out a lot of the moving parts of it. But for me, I'm just super busy. I'm committed to you guys.'
