Everything Announced At Dungeons & Dragons' Vision Keynote 2026 Published Jul 30, 2026, 7:01 PM EDT Sign in to your TheGamer account Dungeons & Dragons has seriously ramped up its presence at this year's Gen Con, renting an entire theatre for a weekend of announcements, panels and live-plays. "D&D Tower" kicked off today with the Dungeons & Dragons Vision Keynote, a series of announcements from Wizards of the Coast regarding the immediate future of the tabletop game. It's safe to say this batch of announcements is the biggest we've received for Dungeons & Dragons in a very long time, as Wizards appears to be trying to generate some brand momentum. Below is every major announcement from the Vision Keynote. Dark Sun Returns Dark Sun Aarakocra via Wizards Of The Coast The legendary post-apocalyptic campaign setting, Dark Sun, is returning in early 2027. A brutal cinematic trailer and the fact that the upcoming Dark Sun expansions are Dungeons & Dragons' first-ever mature-rated releases should give you an idea of what to expect from the classic setting. The revamped Dark Sun will launch with a gameplay expansion, Blood & Power, and a setting expansion, Edge of Oblivion. The former will feature a new class, the Psion. D&D Icons Luke Gygax Icons is a new initiative by Wizards of the Coast that will see legendary campaign designers return to release new material in cooperation with the Dungeons & Dragons design team. This includes Luke Gygax, who will be working on the Greyhawk setting invented by his father, Gary Gygax, creator of Dungeons & Dragons. Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman will be returning to work on Dragonlance. Likewise, R.A. Salvatore will be working on a new Legend of Drizzt project. Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen Tasha of Hideous Laughter fame. Scheduled for release in the latter half of 2027, Crown of the Witch Queen is a new adventure expansion set in the classic Greyhawk setting. It will be a villain-focused campaign focused on Drelnza, the vampire daughter of the archmage Tasha. The adventure will be available as a 160-page hardcover book or as a digital release on D&D Beyond. Universes Beyond: World of Warcraft Universes Beyond is coming to Dungeons & Dragons, with the first crossover announced as World of Warcraft. Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft is a 256-page gameplay expansion book set to release on November 17. It will feature every playable race in World of Warcraft, as well as new spells and subclasses. Also included are stat blocks for iconic World of Warcraft characters such as Arthas and Jaina Proudmoore, and maps for locations like Orgrimmar and the Icecrown Citadel. D&D Beyond Updates Fey Rulers by Olie Boldador Several updates are coming to D&D Beyond, including additional combat functionality in the app and more in-depth tracking features. Wizards of the Coast is focusing on bringing more players together, with the launch of a dedicated party-finding platform and the addition of features to the D&D Beyond Discord server that will better allow people to find players to party up with. These are just some of the major announcements we saw at the Dungeons & Dragons Vision Keynote. Wizards of the Coast is clearly ramping up its focus on the tabletop game heading into 2027.
