Even Attack on Titan 3 is avoiding GTA 6

Others, like Koei Tecmo's Attack on Titan 3, aren't launching until the middle of December. Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force and publisher Koei Tecmo announced a Dec. 10 release date for Attack on Titan 3. Their first new Attack on Titan game in over eight years, this entry has the benefit of being able to adapt the entire manga, controversial ending and all. That said, you will make your way through the manga's events as a customizable original character, rather than Eren, Armin, or Mikasa. Alongside the release date, Koei Tecmo also opened pre-orders and unveiled a physical Steelbook edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. That Digital Deluxe Edition comes with cosmetic DLC, a digital art book, and 72 hours of early access to Attack on Titan 3 on every platform but Nintendo Switch 2. There will also be an in-game bonus for players who still have Attack on Titan 2 save data on their systems. While all of those announcements should feel pretty substantial for Attack on Titan fans, it's disappointing that we have to wait all the way until December to check out the game. Although an anime-inspired action game like this has little in common with GTA 6, even Koei Tecmo feels the need to avoid that launch by a few weeks. We've really seen September, October, and December fill up with games, and now Attack on Titan 3 is up against some other Japanese-developed competition in December, such Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The only games willing to come out close to GTA 6 are ports or remasters, including Barbie Rewind, Gothic 3 Classic, or the Switch 2 port of Metaphor ReFantazio. Attack on Titan 3 will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on Dec. 10, likely making it one of the last AAA games to launch in a hectic fall 2026 for the video game industry.
