Sign in to your ScreenRant account Ethan Hawke is one of the most versatile and skilled actors of his generation, backed by his multiple Oscar nominations. While his awards career has been largely defined by his true-to-life roles in the movies of Richard Linklater, the actor has contributed to a diverse set of genres and styles throughout his career. For instance, many herald Hawke as an underrated master of the horror genre, contributing his talents to films like The Black Phone and Sinister. One of Hawke's other genres is the Western, notably including the 2016 movie The Magnificent Seven. An adaptation of the Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai, the Western action flick saw Hawke re-team with director Antoine Fuqua, with whom he previously worked on Training Day, the film that led to Hawke's first Oscar nomination. Hawke and Fuqua also worked alongside Training Day's Denzel Washington again, who acted among a star-studded cast that also included Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Peter Sarsgaard, and Matt Bomer. Hawke's The Magnificent Seven Is Making A Stand On Pluto TV Now, more audiences can view The Magnificent Seven as it arrived on Pluto TV. The Hawke-led Western officially hit the platform today, November 1. Pluto TV is an ad-supported, free platform; this means that access to the title will thus be greater. At the time of writing, the movie is also available on Tubi and with a subscription to MGM+. The Magnificent Seven is not currently available to rent on Prime Video. The Magnificent Seven had mixed responses upon its initial release. It had a 64% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, just barely ticking it over to the fresh side. In theaters, the film grossed $162.3 million worldwide, which while not objectively a terrible number, likely means the movie lost money considering its lofty $90 million budget. As such, its streaming status gives it a great chance to succeed with a new audience. The Western Remake Is About To Go In A New Direction This streaming change comes at a good time, as The Magnificent Seven is about to heat up again. Amazon currently has plans in the works for a spinoff TV series. This would return the franchise to previous iterations that it saw from 1998 to 2000, with the 22-episode TV show of the same name. Over the course of time, The Magnificent Seven has had more movie installments than TV, so it will be interesting to see the franchise return to the small screen. For right now, audiences still catching up can check out the movie on Pluto TV.
