Eternal quest for privileges

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's recent passage of the Powers, Immunities and Privileges Act, 2026, raises significant concerns due to the lack of transparency surrounding its details. While the law was approved on April 30, 2026, and received the governor's assent on May 6, it took longer for the official text to appear on the assembly’s website, with older acts appearing much later. This opacity fuels worries about potential overreach in legislative powers and privileges. Such concerns are crucial as they might undermine public trust and democratic accountability.
