ESPN analyst calls South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers-Nyck Harbor combination ‘most intimidating’ in college football

Chances are, the 2026 season will be the final one in garnet and black for both quarterback LaNorris Sellers and wide receiver Nyck Harbor. Earlier this offseason, the future pros turned down the NFL for a fourth year together at South Carolina. Now, Gamecock fans are looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish in new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’ system. A national college football analyst recently shared a strong thought about USC’s dynamic passing game duo. ESPN’s Bill Connelly, who published his preseason SP+ rankings on Monday, said that Sellers and Harbor “serve as the most intimidating pitch-and-catch combination in the country.” Questions about this story? Sellers and Harbor represent two of the country’s best combinations of size and athletic ability at the quarterback and wide receiver positions, respectively. Sellers, listed at 6-3 and 238 pounds, has run the 40-yard dash in the 4.4s and owns one of college football’s strongest throwing arms. His Superman-like sack avoidances have showcased him as one of the strongest quarterbacks in the sport, too. Harbor, listed at 6-5 and 239 pounds, is even faster, having been an All-American in both the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints as a freshman track and field athlete. He also has impressive leaping ability and has made a few acrobatic high-point grabs during his career. Sellers had his breakout campaign in 2024, earning All-SEC honors. Harbor followed suit with a strong 2025 season. Last fall, they combined for five touchdowns that went for over 40 yards. That included four deep balls against Virginia Tech, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Clemson and an 80-yard catch-and-run against Texas A&M. Unsurprisingly, both Sellers and Harbor have earned Preseason All-SEC selections from several outlets this summer. What’s next for South Carolina? The Gamecock stars are a big reason why South Carolina sits in the top 25 of Connelly’s preseason SP+ rankings. South Carolina’s No. 25 spot came with an offensive efficiency of 43rd overall. USC is 21st nationally in defensive efficiency and 19th in special teams efficiency. However, if the 16-to-8 connection can take another step forward in 2026, the Gamecock offense will be better than 43rd-best in the country. With improvements to the coaching staff and the players around Sellers and Harbor, Carolina has top-25 potential on offense to go with a defense and special teams units that already sit inside Connelly’s top 25. The Gamecocks posted two top-25 SP+ offenses during the Shane Beamer era in Columbia.
