As part of the update, motorists were required to give way to cyclists while still being able to access the road. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! It was the brainchild of Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) and was constructed to address the risks posed by narrow pavements, busy junctions, and an over-crowded carriageway on the street. However, it has been closed after GCP officials said the road markings “were not up to standard”. The M Group, which was contracted to install the road markings, is removing and replacing them at their own expense. The work is expected to take two weeks. In a statement, the GCP said: “As part of our remaining works on Adams Road, we need to close the road to vehicles from Monday 10 August between 7.30am and 6pm for approximately two weeks between Grange Road and Wilberforce Road. “We will be completing the remaining road lining on Adams Road and carrying out some remedial work. “While carrying out a routine quality assurance check on our Adams Road project, it became clear some of the road markings were not up to the required standards.” Most read in Motors Some residents welcomed the project though not all approved. When it was first opened, one resident called it an “unused gimmick”. The Sun has contacted M Group for comment, Comment now
