England squad: Cole Palmer left out by Thomas Tuchel after medical checks on Chelsea star

Palmer was left out of the 25-man squad named by Tuchel on Friday morning, but there was a place for Jude Bellingham and, for the first time, his brother Jobe Bellingham, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder. However, the 24-year-old has been left out by England, having previously been warned by Tuchel after withdrawing from the last squad that he misses “too many opportunities” to play for his country as the result of injury. Chelsea insist they had communicated to the FA that Palmer was fit and ready if selected. There were also call-ups on Friday for the Fulham teenager Josh King, Inter Milan full-back Djed Spence and Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. Tuchel has, however, left out Arsenal winger Noni Madueke. There are returns following injury for Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Ben White but no place once again for Manchester City’s Phil Foden or Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo. United midfielder Mainoo pulled out of the last international break with injury after having been the only outfield player in Tuchel’s World Cup squad not to get a minute of game time during the summer.Called up: Jobe BellinghamPAMarcus Rashford is injured so absent from the squad, as is Bukayo Saka. The uncapped veteran Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele, 36, keeps his place in the squad despite Dean Henderson’s return to the Crystal Palace team following injury. Steele, King and Jobe Bellingham are the only uncapped players in the squad. There was no space for the Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall despite calls for him to be included from his team-mate James Tarkowski and manager David Moyes. Dewsbury-Hall has been never received a call-up for England. The England captain Harry Kane has been named in the squad in the week he signed his new contract with Bayern Munich. He will break Peter Shilton’s England appearances record if he plays next Thursday against Croatia at Wembley.
