He has worked in LNG, gas and commodities markets across Europe, Asia and the US for more than three decades and will be best positioned to lead Grain LNG “through its next phase of growth,” the company said in a statement Monday.Centrica Plc, the owner of British Gas, acquired the Grain terminal last year in partnership with Energy Capital Partners. It’s one of Europe’s largest LNG import and regasification terminals and an important gateway for supplies as the region increasingly depends on global seaborne flows. Simon Culkin, Grain’s current managing director, will step down from his role on Aug. 14, while chief financial officer Richard Ozsanlav will serve as interim CEO, according to the statement. Britain’s terminals are among the most expensive in Europe, making it challenging to maintain high utilization rates when competition for flexible LNG cargoes is tight. Europe’s overall imports of the super-chilled fuel dropped to the lowest in nearly two years last month, making it a difficult market as the conflict in the Middle East disrupts global energy flows.
