Emotional Andy Burnham fights back tears as he pays tribute to his late father in his Labour conference speech

Andy Burnham fought back tears as he remembered his late father during his Labour Party conference speech.The Prime Minister became emotional talking about his father Roy who passed away less than two weeks ago. He spoke movingly of how his dad was too ill with Alzheimer’s to recognise he had become prime minister, but how he was determined to honour his memory by creating a new national care service. And it has given his sons opportunities he didn’t get for himself.“He recognised that and was grateful for it. And so proud of what Nick, John [Mr Burnham’s brothers] and I did with them.
